Location Directions: From the University of
Mississippi campus, go east off of campus on University Avenue.
Continue straight through the stop sign and at the stop light, the marker
will be on your left. The actual sorority house for the Delta Gamma
fraternity is located on Sorority Row on the University of Mississippi
campus.

Gamma, a national collegiate women's fraternity, was organized during the
1873 Christmas season located at the Lewis School located at this site.
Its founders were three students, Eva Webb, Mary Comfort, and Anna Boyd, who
were unable to go home to Kosciusko, Mississippi for the holidays because of
bas weather and impassable roads. Note: The current Delta
Gamma sorority house is not located at the site of the former Lewis School,
but on the University of Mississippi campus on Sorority Row. |
