Location Directions: From Jackson Avenue, turn
onto Sorority Row. Continue straight until the road ends at Student
Union Drive/Grove Loop. The site of the former Dead House will be on
the corner on your left.

Originally build for use as magnetic observatory. Used as a
Confederate morgue after Battle of Shiloh in April, 1862. Also used by
General U. S. Grant in fall of 1862 and later by forces of General Nathan B.
Forrest. Note: The current Farley Hall is located on the site
where the Dead House used to stand.
